Terms of Service

These terms are an agreement between you and Adil Khan ("we", "us") covering your use of the Kalozi app. By using Kalozi you accept them.

1. What Kalozi is — and is not

Kalozi estimates the calories and macronutrients of a meal from a photograph, using an AI model.

Estimates are estimates

The numbers Kalozi shows are approximations inferred from an image. They will sometimes be materially wrong — a model cannot see the oil in a pan or the sugar in a sauce. Kalozi is not a medical device and gives no medical advice. Do not rely on it to manage a medical condition. Speak to a doctor or registered dietitian before making significant dietary changes, and particularly if you are pregnant, managing a health condition, or have any history of disordered eating.

2. Your account

You can use Kalozi as a guest with no account. If you sign in with Apple or Google, you are responsible for keeping access to that login secure. You must be at least 16 to use Kalozi. One person per account.

3. Free tier and paid subscriptions

Kalozi includes a free tier of 3 scans in total. Beyond that, scanning requires a subscription.

Subscriptions are offered as a weekly or yearly plan, with a 3-day free trial for new subscribers.
Prices are shown in the app in your local currency before you confirm. They may differ by country and may change; we will tell you before a change affects you.
Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends.
If you do not cancel before your free trial ends, it converts into a paid subscription and you are charged.
Payment is taken by Apple or Google, not by us. We never see your card details.

Cancelling

Cancel any time in your device's subscription settings — Apple and Google control this, and we cannot cancel on your behalf. See Support for step-by-step instructions. Cancelling stops future charges; you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.

Refunds

Purchases are handled by the app stores, so refunds are requested from them: Apple or Google. Nothing here limits any statutory right of withdrawal or refund you have under the consumer law of your country.

4. Fair use

Please do not:

automate, script, or resell access to the scanning feature, or use it to build a competing dataset;
attempt to bypass the free-tier limit or the rate limits;
upload anything unlawful, or anyone else's photo without their agreement;
try to break, probe, or overload the service, or reverse-engineer it beyond what your local law permits.

We apply a daily cap on scans per account to prevent abuse. If you use Kalozi in a way that harms the service or other users, we may suspend your account.

5. Your content

Your photos and meal data are yours. You grant us only the licence we need to run the service for you: to transmit your photo to our AI provider for analysis, to store your meals in your account, and to generate the share cards you ask for. We do not use your photos to train AI models, and we do not publish them. You can delete everything at any time from Settings → Delete account.

6. Referrals

Referral rewards grant a limited free-access period. They have no cash value, cannot be exchanged, and may be withdrawn if obtained through self-referral or other abuse.

7. Availability and changes

We try to keep Kalozi working but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Scanning depends on a third-party AI provider and an internet connection. We may add, change, or remove features. If we discontinue a paid feature you have paid for, we will offer a pro-rata refund of the unused period.

8. Liability

Kalozi is provided "as is". To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for any decision you make based on an estimate the app produced. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the previous 12 months or USD 50.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you are a consumer, you keep all rights your local law gives you.

9. Ending the agreement

You may stop using Kalozi at any time and delete your account in the app. We may suspend or end your access if you materially breach these terms, and will give you notice and a chance to put it right unless the breach makes that unreasonable.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, and disputes will be heard in the courts of the United Arab Emirates. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you may also bring a claim in your own country's courts.
